The Geography of the Keyboard

The piano keys are arranged in a repeating pattern. Once you learn this pattern, you can find notes - all 88 of them!  Unless you are using a digital keyboard, then you may not have all 88 keys.

There are white keys and black keys. Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder collaborated on a song called Ebony and Ivory that talks about the white and black keys on a keyboard. Give it a listen.

Anyway, the black keys are arranged in alternating groups of 2 and 3 key groups. This helps us find our way around the individual music notes.
